35 spline superlight axles can be used for cars weighing up to 1800 lbs while 40 spline superlight axles are recommended for vehicles over 1800 lbs. MW Superlight Hi-Torque axles are forged 4340 steel and custom made for each application. They have extensively milled pocket lightened flanges for additional weight savings and a 7/8" gun drill through the entire length of the shaft. MW precision hones the bore to remove any possible stress risers. The additional machining done behind the MW name plate and revised axle profile helps achieve the 29% weight savings over MW Standard Hi-Torque axles. All MW axles are designed to accept the largest axle bearing diameter possible for your particular housing end, then each axle shaft is tapered from the bearing journal to the spline. The combination of the large bearing diameter and tapered shaft increases torsional and bending capacity. These axles also feature tapped stud holes (1/2" or 5/8") in the pattern of your choice.
