The XK and XJ series Jaguar rear axle hub has long been a problem with the increased power output from today’s improvements. The hub assemblies are also commonly used in street rods that incorporate an independent rear suspension.
Mark Williams Enterprises, Inc. has new assembly available that solves the breakage issues associated with the original 10-spline shafts. The kit is a direct replacement for the original hub and u-joint splined shaft. The kit comes with all the parts necessary for the conversion. The original tapered bearings and seals are retained.
This kit improves the yoke-shaft torsion capability by increasing the spline to a more modern and stronger 31-tooth involute profile. The yoke-shaft is made from a 300M aircraft alloy forging that has been heat treated and shot peened for improved cycle life. The yoke-shaft features removable caps that simplify installation. The universal joint cap attachment fasteners are drilled for safety wire locking. The yoke-shaft features a 1”-20 thread that increases strength. The hub is 4340 steel that is through-hardened heat treated with our exclusive austempering process. Wheel studs are an ARP product with a quick-start nut-aligning feature. They are installed and easily replaced by a threaded connection into the hub.
